5059 aluminum is a high-magnesium 5xxx-series alloy developed for marine and structural applications that require the highest levels of corrosion resistance combined with strength. It carries approximately 5.0-6.0% magnesium, supported by manganese, chromium, and a deliberate zirconium addition that refines the grain structure and improves strength after welding. Because it is non-heat-treatable, 5059 is strengthened by strain hardening and is most often supplied in H116, H321, and H131 tempers for plate, sheet, and extrusions.<\/p>\n
