What Is 5383 Aluminum?<\/h2>\n

5383 is a non-heat-treatable wrought aluminum alloy in the 5xxx (Al-Mg) family, formulated with roughly 4.5 to 5 percent magnesium plus manganese. It was developed as a higher-strength successor to 5083, delivering improved weld-joint strength and better resistance to exfoliation and stress corrosion cracking. Because it is strain-hardened rather than heat-treated, its properties come from cold work in the H tempers.<\/p>\n
