Strength comes from magnesium-silicide precipitates formed during the T6 aging treatment, while manganese refines the grain and increases strength without compromising corrosion resistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That manganese-rich composition is also why 6082 is harder to push through an extrusion die than 6061 or 6063, so it trades some formability for the highest strength-to-weight ratio in the family.
