6201 aluminum wire is a heat-treatable, electrical-grade alloy that balances high mechanical strength with good conductivity and corrosion resistance. Supplied mainly in the T81 temper, it is the standard choice for All Aluminum Alloy Conductors (AAAC) and overhead power lines. 6201 belongs to the 6000 series (Al-Mg-Si) and is optimized for electrical conductor use rather than general structural work. Compared with the classic 1350 EC grade, 6201 trades some conductivity for substantially higher strength, letting conductors carry heavier mechanical loads with smaller sags. The T81 temper (solution heat treated, cold worked, and artificially aged) delivers the best combination of strength and conductivity for overhead lines.

6201 wire is supplied drawn and aged; further cold working or re-aging is not normally required. It can be stranded, baked, and connectorized using standard utility practices. Anodizing is possible for identification but is uncommon on conductors. Welding of finished conductors is generally avoided; mechanical or compression joints are preferred.

6201 typically provides about 52% IACS, lower than 1350 EC wire (about 61% IACS) but with significantly higher strength, which is the reason it is chosen for AAAC.
For conductors, T81 is preferred because the cold-work plus age step gives the highest strength at a stable conductivity. T6 is used where full cold work is not required.
Finished conductors are normally joined with compression or mechanical fittings rather than welding. Welding is not standard practice for strand-in-place lines.
Standard coils start at a 50 kg minimum with custom weights on request. Diameter range is 0.8 to 30 mm.
