7003 aluminum is a medium-strength 7000-series (Al-Zn-Mg) alloy that is easier to weld than the high-strength 7075 and 7050 grades. It offers a strong, lightweight option for extruded frames, tubes, and plates in transport and sporting goods. Linsy supplies 7003 in sheet, coil, tube, and bar with tempers T5, T6, and T651.
Available forms: sheet / coil, tube, bar / rod
Common tempers: T6, T651, T5
Processing support: CNC machining, laser cutting, TIG/MIG welding, anodizing, polishing, powder coating
Quality documents: MTC report with every order
7003 gains strength from zinc and magnesium with a small zirconium addition for grain control. Its weldability is one of its key selling points: welded joints keep much more strength than those in 7075, so it is favored where large assemblies are welded rather than machined. Strength sits between 6061 and 7075.

Peak strength for welded frames and structural members where maximum load capacity is needed.
Cooled from extrusion and artificially aged; good strength with lower cost than full T6 solution treatment.
Better weld retention than 7075/7050, ideal for welded assemblies.
Stronger than 6061 at similar weight.
Good for 7000-series; acceptable in many transport environments.
Readily extruded into complex profiles.
7003 welds well with TIG/MIG using 5356 or 5183 filler. Note that the heat-affected zone loses some strength, so design welds accordingly. It machines and anodizes acceptably, though 7xxx anodizing can show slight color variation. Post-weld artificial aging can recover part of the strength loss.
Every order ships with a Mill Test Certificate (MTC) recording composition and mechanical results. Our quality system is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. Third-party SGS test reports can be arranged on request. Inspection covers dimensions, surface condition, and mechanical verification by temper.
Linsy Aluminum is a Shenzhen-based aluminum manufacturer with more than 20 years of experience supplying the 1000 to 8000 series in plate, bar, tube, wire, coil, profile, and block forms. For 7003 aluminum, we support both off-the-shelf ranges and made-to-order dimensions.

Both are weldable medium-strength 7xxx alloys. 7005 carries a bit more manganese and is common in marine and rail welded structures; 7003 is widely used for extrusions in transport and sporting goods. Strength overlaps.
Yes for strength: 7003 is stronger than 6061 after welding while remaining weldable. Choose 6061 when maximum corrosion resistance or simpler welding is the priority.
The heat-affected zone softens, as with most heat-treatable alloys. Design for the welded-zone strength, or apply post-weld aging where the spec allows.
Custom sizes and tempers usually ship within 10 to 60 days. Confirm the exact window when you request a quote, as it depends on alloy, temper, dimensions, and order quantity.
MOQ is flexible and reviewed case by case. Small lots and prototypes can often be accommodated; larger or standard runs are more economical. Share your required dimensions and quantity for a firm quote.
