4005 aluminum alloy belongs to the 4000 series, where silicon is the main alloying element. It also contains magnesium, which gives it better response to heat treatment and improved strength compared to binary Al-Si alloys. The alloy is supplied primarily as wire, rod, coil and sheet for welding, brazing and heat-transfer applications. It offers good fluidity, corrosion resistance and electrical/thermal conductivity, but it is not chosen for high-strength structural parts. Linsy Aluminum supplies 4005 in standard tempers and custom dimensions to meet project specifications.
Linsy stocks and produces 4005 aluminum in the following forms. Cut-to-length, custom diameter and specific coil weights are available on request.
4005 wire and rod are the most common forms. They are used as filler metal for TIG/MIG welding and as brazing rod. Diameters typically range from 0.8 mm to 6.0 mm for wire and 6 mm to 50 mm for rod. Other sizes are available on request.

Tubes, bars and special profiles can be produced in 4005 on inquiry, depending on lot size and tooling. Contact us with your drawing or specification for a feasibility review.
4005 is registered with the Aluminum Association. Common designations include:
Because national standards may differ slightly, please tell us the standard you need (ASTM, EN, JIS, GB/T) so we can quote to the correct specification.
The table below shows the composition limits typically associated with 4005 aluminum. Values are for reference; the actual composition will be reported on the mill test certificate.
| Element | Yüzde (%) |
|---|---|
| Si | 9.0 – 10.5 |
| Fe | 0.80 max |
| Cu | 0,10 maks. |
| Mn | 0,10 maks. |
| Mg | 1.0 - 1.5 |

Mechanical properties depend on temper, diameter and test direction. The values below are typical ranges for 4005 wire and rod; confirm exact values on your mill test certificate.
| Temper | Form | Çekme Dayanımı (MPa) | Uzama (%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| O | Wire / Rod | 145 – 195 | ≥ 18 |
| H14 | Wire / Rod / Sheet | 220 – 275 | ≥ 10 |
| H16 | Wire / Rod / Sheet | 260 – 310 | ≥ 6 |
| H18 | Wire / Sheet | 300 – 360 | ≥ 3 |
| H19 | Wire | 330 – 390 | ≥ 2 |
Choose the temper based on forming and service requirements:
The silicon content gives excellent fluidity and weld pool stability, while magnesium improves response to heat treatment and raises strength compared to Al-Si filler alloys without magnesium.
4005 is used as a filler and brazing alloy. It wets steel and aluminum joints well, produces low crack sensitivity, and is suitable for TIG, MIG and furnace brazing when matched with compatible base metals.
The alloy offers good resistance to atmospheric and mild chemical corrosion. A light oxide layer forms naturally; surface cleaning or pickling may be required before welding or brazing to avoid porosity.
In the annealed condition, 4005 is easy to form and bend. Its electrical and thermal conductivity are lower than pure aluminum but still suitable for many heat-transfer and electrical joint applications.
Linsy can support the following processing for 4005 products:
4005 is not ideal for anodizing because the high silicon content can produce dark or uneven finishes. If appearance is important, please discuss options before ordering.
