What Is 5052 Aluminum Square Bar?

5052 aluminum square bar is a solid extruded or drawn product in the 5xxx (Al-Mg) series. Like all 5052 forms, it relies on strain hardening rather than precipitation heat treatment for its strength — meaning its mechanical properties depend on the temper designation (O, H32, H34) rather than a post-extrusion heat-treatment cycle.

Square bar is specified when structural members need a uniform cross-section for machining brackets, support frames, or fixture components. Compared to round bar, square bar provides flat reference surfaces that simplify clamping and alignment during CNC machining operations.
