5454 aluminum is a non-heat-treatable 5xxx alloy with about 2.7 percent magnesium and manganese. It offers higher strength than 3003 or 5052 with excellent corrosion resistance, including resistance to stress corrosion cracking, which makes it a popular choice for welded pressure equipment, tanks, and marine structures across demanding industries.

5454 is a non-heat-treatable 5xxx alloy containing about 2.7 percent magnesium with manganese. It offers higher strength than 3003 or 5052 while keeping very good corrosion resistance, including resistance to stress corrosion cracking. These traits make it a common choice for welded pressure equipment and marine structures.
Linsy supplies 5454 in sheet, plate, bar, tube, and extruded profiles. The tempers most commonly supplied are O, H32, H34, H111, and H112. Dimensions below are typical ranges; other sizes can be discussed on request.
5454 sheet and coil are supplied in thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 6 mm, widths up to 2600 mm, and lengths up to 6000 mm or cut to size.
5454 plate is available from 6 mm up to 80 mm thick, with standard widths up to 3000 mm, commonly in H112 or H32.
Round, flat, and square bars are produced in diameters or side lengths from 6 mm to 300 mm, typically in H111, H112, or O.
5454 tube and pipe are supplied in outer diameters from 6 mm to 400 mm with wall thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 40 mm, in O, H32, H34, H111, or H112.
Extruded angles, channels, and custom profiles are available on request, usually in H111 or H112 temper.
5454 is identified by the following common standards and designations.
| Padrão | Designação |
|---|---|
| AA | 5454 |
| UNS | A95454 |
| EN AW | EN AW-AlMg3Mn |
The typical composition of 5454 aluminum is listed below in weight percent, with aluminum as the balance.
| Elemento | Composição (%) |
|---|---|
| Silício (Si) | 0,25 máximo |
| Ferro (Fe) | 0.40 max |
| Cobre (Cu) | 0,10 máximo |
| Manganês (Mn) | 0.50 – 1.00 |
| Magnésio (Mg) | 2.4 – 3.0 |
| Cromo (Cr) | 0.05 – 0.20 |
| Zinco (Zn) | 0,25 máximo |
| Titânio (Ti) | 0.20 max |
| Others each | 0.05 |
| Others total | 0.15 |
| Alumínio (Al) | Equilíbrio |
The values below are typical for rolled and extruded products and should be confirmed against the mill test certificate for the specific temper and thickness ordered.
| Temperamento | Resistência à tração (MPa) | Resistência ao escoamento (MPa) | Alongamento (%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| O | 215 – 260 | 85 min | 18 |
| H32 | 250 – 300 | 180 min | 10 |
| H34 | 270 – 320 | 215 min | 8 |
| H111 | 215 min | 130 min | 14 |
| H112 | 215 min | 130 min | 12 |
Use H32 or H34 for formed and welded parts that need moderate strength. H111 and H112 are suited to structural and pressure components, while O provides the best formability for deep drawing or bending.
5454 resists seawater and many chemicals well and is not prone to stress corrosion cracking in normal service.
It welds readily with MIG and TIG using 5xxx fillers, with little loss of corrosion resistance in the weld zone.
It is stronger than the common 3xxx and 5xxx general-purpose grades, making it useful where 5052 is marginally too weak.
In O and H32 tempers it forms and bends well for tanks and panels.
5454 welds well with standard MIG/TIG processes and is easy to cut and form. Like other 5xxx grades it anodizes to a muted gray rather than a bright finish. Common finishing is mill finish, brushed, or painted; CNC machining and laser cutting are available.
Linsy provides a mill test certificate (MTC) with every shipment, documenting chemical composition and mechanical properties per EN 10204 3.1 where applicable. Third-party inspection and SGS material test reports can be arranged on request. Production is managed under ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment), and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety) systems.
Linsy Aluminum operates a production and processing base with over 20 years of experience across the 1xxx to 8xxx aluminum series. For 5454, we supply sheet, plate, bar, tube, and extruded profiles with optional CNC machining, laser cutting, and surface finishing such as anodizing and polishing. Every order is shipped with a mill test certificate (MTC), and production follows ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems. Custom dimensions and tempers can be arranged, with typical lead times of 10 to 60 days depending on the specification.
It is widely used for welded pressure vessels, tanks, and marine or transport structures where good corrosion resistance and moderate strength are needed.
No. It is a non-heat-treatable 5xxx alloy strengthened by strain hardening.
5083 is stronger and more corrosion resistant in severe marine service; 5454 is a good balance of strength and formability for welded equipment.
Not to a bright finish; it anodizes to a gray tone, so decorative anodizing is usually left to grades such as 5457 or 5657.
MOQs depend on form and temper. Standard stock items often start from a few hundred kilograms, while custom sizes are quoted per inquiry.
Standard specifications are usually available within 10 to 60 days. Custom tempers or dimensions may require longer; we confirm a date with each quotation.
A mill test certificate (MTC) is included with every order. Production carries ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 system certifications, and SGS or third-party test reports can be supplied on request.
