8176 is a high-purity aluminum-iron-silicon (Al-Fe-Si) electrical conductor alloy used mainly for overhead power lines, insulated building wire, and magnet wire where excellent ductility and formability are required. Its low strength and very high elongation make it ideal for stranding and drawing into fine wire. Linsy supplies 8176 as rod, wire, and strip in tempers O, H14, H18, H22, and H24, with custom sizes available and an MTC supplied on every order.

8176 (EN AW-8176) is an 8xxx-series aluminum alloy whose properties are governed mainly by its iron and silicon content. It is engineered for electrical conductor applications: the composition is balanced so the drawn wire is soft, ductile, and easy to strand, while still carrying good electrical conductivity. 8176 is the common alloy for building wire (e.g., Type THHN/THWN conductors in North America) and for general-purpose electrical wire.

O is the softest and most ductile condition, used for fine drawing and stranding. H18 is full-hard drawn wire for finished conductors where high strength and low elongation are acceptable. H22 / H24 offer a middle ground of strength and formability for strip and formed conductors.
The alloy draws and strands readily, which is why it dominates fine electrical wire production.
As an Al-Fe-Si grade, 8176 provides conductivity suitable for power distribution wire while remaining easy to process.
8176 offers good atmospheric corrosion resistance typical of low-copper aluminum conductor alloys.
8176 is normally supplied as drawn wire or strip. Wire drawing, stranding, annealing, and flattening are standard processes. Surface finish is generally as-drawn; enamelling or insulating coatings are applied by downstream processors. Welding is uncommon for conductor wire; connections are normally made by crimping or compression.
Every 8176 order ships with an MTC reporting chemical analysis and mechanical results. Conductivity and dimensional checks can be added on request.
Linsy is a Shenzhen-based aluminum supplier with more than 20 years of experience across the 1000 to 8000 series. We provide consistent conductor wire and strip with tight tolerances, flexible coil sizes, and full mill documentation to support electrical and cable manufacturers.

No. 8176 is an Al-Fe-Si grade used mainly for building wire, whereas 1350 is the classic EC (electrical conductor) grade and 8030 is an Al-Mg-Si AA-8000 series conductor alloy. Confirm the AA number on the mill certificate.
8176 is used where ductility and stranding behavior matter; exact conductivity should be confirmed from the mill certificate for the specific temper and size.
Lead times generally range from 10 to 60 days depending on temper, size, and quantity. Confirm with your quote.
