What Is 6064 Aluminum Alloy?

6064 aluminum is a lead-free, free-machining 6000-series alloy developed as an environmentally friendlier alternative to 6262. By adding tin and bismuth to the magnesium-silicon base it produces short, manageable chips and holds a good surface finish during high-volume machining. Linsy supplies 6064 in T6 and T6511 tempers for automotive, fluid-power, and precision component production.

Proprietà meccaniche in base al trattamento termico

Values below are typical minimums for extruded 6064 and reflect standard reference ranges; actual results vary with section thickness.

Guida alla scelta della tempra

T6 / T6511 are the standard tempers for 6064, providing the high strength and stable machining behavior needed for valves, fittings, and fasteners. T6511 is the common extrusion temper; choose it unless a specific drawing calls for another condition. Annealed (O) stock is available where maximum formability is required before machining.

Caratteristiche principali

Free-Machining Performance

Bismuth and tin promote short chip formation, improving tool life and surface finish in high-volume turning and milling.

Resistenza alla corrosione

6064 keeps good corrosion resistance for a free-machining alloy, suitable for fluid-power and automotive environments.

Formability & Weldability

The alloy forms adequately in softer tempers but is primarily selected for machined parts. Welding is possible with standard methods; post-weld strength is lower than the base temper.

Applicazioni

  • Automotive: brake components, transmission valves, sensor housings
  • Fluid power: hydraulic pistons, manifolds, pneumatic fittings
  • Electronics: precision connectors and hardware
  • Fasteners: nuts, bolts, and specialized threaded parts

Note sulla lavorazione e sulla finitura superficiale

6064 is optimized for machining — use sharp tooling and appropriate speeds for aluminum to take full advantage of its chip-breaking behavior. Finish machining after aging gives the most stable dimensions. Anodizing is possible but free-machining additives can affect appearance; confirm finish expectations before production. Welding should be specified carefully because of local softening.

Documenti di qualità e ispezione

Every 6063 square bar shipment leaves our Shenzhen plant with a Mill Test Certificate (MTC) that reports the actual chemical analysis and mechanical results for the heat. In-house checks cover dimensional tolerance, surface condition, and temper verification. Our production system is managed under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. Where a project requires it, third-party test reports (for example SGS) can be arranged on request.

Why Choose Linsy for 6063 Aluminum

Linsy is a Shenzhen-based aluminum supplier with more than 20 years of production experience across the 1000 to 8000 series. For 6063 we support both standard extruded profiles and made-to-order sections, with in-house cutting, CNC machining, and anodizing or polishing finishes. Common tempers and sizes are held for faster turnaround, while custom dimensions are produced to order. Each order ships with an MTC so procurement and quality teams can verify the material before it enters production.

6064 Aluminum FAQ

What makes 6064 different from 6061 or 6262?

6064 is a lead-free free-machining alloy (using Bi/Sn instead of lead) aimed at high-volume machined parts, whereas 6061 is a general structural alloy and 6262 is the leaded free-machining grade.

Which tempers are available?

We primarily supply T6 and T6511, with O available on request.

Is 6064 RoHS / green-compliant?

Yes — 6064 is a lead-free alternative designed for environments that restrict lead content. Confirm specific compliance requirements with your order.

Domande frequenti generali sugli ordini

Qual è il tempo di consegna standard?

Standard tempers and sizes are usually available within 10–60 days. Custom extrusion or machining lead times depend on section complexity and order volume — we confirm a date when the specification is fixed.

Do you provide an MTC with each order?

Yes. A Mill Test Certificate is issued for every shipment, reporting chemical composition and mechanical properties for the supplied heat.

Can sizes and tempers be customized?

Yes. We cut to length and produce custom cross-sections and tempers on request. Share your drawing or required dimensions and we will confirm feasibility.

Which surface finishes are available?

Common options include mill finish, anodizing, and polishing. Specific finishes should be confirmed against your application and tolerance needs.

Which certifications does Linsy hold?

Our management system is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. Third-party test reports such as SGS can be provided on request for specific orders.
