What Is 5052 Aluminum Square Tube?

5052 aluminum square tube is a hollow extruded product in the 5xxx (Al-Mg) series. Like all 5052 forms, it relies on strain hardening for its strength — meaning its mechanical properties are determined by the temper designation (O, H32, H34) rather than by heat treatment.

Square tube provides uniform bending stiffness in both transverse directions (unlike round tube, which is isotropic only in torsion). This makes it ideal for structural frames, enclosures, and support systems where predictable load distribution in two axes is needed. The hollow section also offers weight savings compared to solid square bar of the same outer dimensions.
