3003 aluminum flat bar is a non-heat-treatable Al-Mn alloy widely used in chemical equipment, HVAC ductwork, general fabrication, and storage tank framing. It offers excellent corrosion resistance, good weldability, and moderate strength — approximately 20% stronger than 1100 aluminum. Linsy supplies 3003 flat bars in tempers O, H14, H22, H112, and F, with custom dimensions, cut-to-length service, surface finishing options, and MTC reports included with every order.

3003 aluminum flat bar is a rectangular cross-section bar made from 3003 Al-Mn (aluminum-manganese) alloy. As a non-heat-treatable wrought alloy, 3003 derives its strength from cold working rather than precipitation hardening. The flat bar form is typically produced by extrusion (in H112 or F temper) or by cutting from strain-hardened sheet/strip stock (in H14, H22, or O temper).
With 1.0–1.5% manganese as its primary alloying element, 3003 offers approximately 20% higher strength than commercially pure 1100 aluminum while retaining excellent corrosion resistance, formability, and weldability. It is widely specified for chemical equipment, storage tanks, ductwork, and general fabrication where flat bar stock is required for machining, welding, or structural framing.
Common tempers for 3003 flat bar include O (fully annealed, maximum formability), H14 (half hard, good balance of strength and formability), and H22 (strain-hardened then partially annealed, stable strength with good formability). Linsy supplies 3003 flat bars in these tempers with custom cut-to-length, surface finishing, and MTC reports available for every order.
Linsy supplies 3003 aluminum flat bars in standard and custom sizes. Both metric and imperial dimensions are available. Custom cut-to-length, edge rounding, and surface finishing (mill finish, anodized, or brushed) can be specified at order.

Select the right temper for your flat bar application based on the required strength, formability, and post-machining stability.
| Temperament | Beschreibung | Wichtigster Vorteil | When to Use for Flat Bar |
|---|---|---|---|
| O | Annealed — fully soft | Maximum formability and ductility | Bending, forming, or welding where maximum ductility is required |
| H14 | Strain-hardened, 1/2 hard | Good balance of strength and formability | General fabrication, brackets, flat patterns that need moderate strength |
| H22 | Strain-hardened then partially annealed | Stable strength with good formability | Flat bar that will be formed after delivery; better stability than H14 |
| H112 | As-extruded | No special control — economical | Structural flat bar where surface finish is less critical |
3003 aluminum offers excellent resistance to atmospheric corrosion, including in marine and industrial environments. The manganese addition suppresses intergranular corrosion, making 3003 suitable for outdoor structural applications, chemical storage, and marine non-critical parts. It performs well in contact with fresh water, mild chemicals, and food products without requiring protective coating.
3003 flat bar in O or H14 temper can be cold bent, drilled, tapped, and machined with standard tools. It is rated as highly weldable by TIG (GTAW), MIG (GMAW), and resistance welding. Filler metal 4043 or 1100 is recommended. Note that welding anneals the heat-affected zone in strain-hardened tempers, reducing local strength — consider using O temper bar if extensive welding is required.
3003 has fair machinability — softer than heat-treatable alloys like 6061 or 2011. Use sharp tools, positive rake angles, and appropriate cutting speeds to avoid built-up edge. O temper machines more smoothly than H14; chip breakers are recommended for continuous cuts.
