What Is 6005 Aluminum?

Aluminium 6005 is a 6xxx-series, heat-treatable alloy built on the magnesium-silicide (Mg2Si) strengthening system. With roughly 0.5% magnesium and 0.6-0.9% silicon, it sits between 6063 (easier, weaker) and 6061 (stronger, less extrudable) in character.

It extrudes well, welds readily, and reaches useful strength after aging, which is why it is common for structural frames, railings, and transport components.
