2A11 aluminum alloy (GB/T 3190) is a high-strength Al-Cu-Mg wrought aluminum alloy, commonly referred to as “hard aluminum.” Known for its excellent tensile strength, good fatigue resistance, and superior cold workability in the T4 temper, 2A11 is the preferred material for aircraft rivets, precision fasteners, and high-stress structural components. Linsy supplies 2A11 aluminum sheet, plate, coil, bar, and tube in tempers O, T4, and T6, with custom sizes, processing support, and MTC reports available.

2A11 aluminum alloy is a Chinese GB/T 3190 designation for a high-strength Al-Cu-Mg wrought aluminum alloy, commonly referred to as “hard aluminum” (硬铝) in Chinese industrial contexts. It is the GB equivalent of the internationally recognized AA 2017 alloy (AlCu4SiMg), though the two are covered under different national standards and may have slightly different certification scopes.
2A11 is primarily alloyed with copper (3.8–4.5%), magnesium (0.4–0.8%), and manganese (0.4–0.8%), with silicon kept below 0.5%. The copper content provides high tensile strength through precipitation hardening, while magnesium and manganese contribute to additional strength and workability. In the T4 temper (solution heat-treated and naturally aged), 2A11 typically achieves tensile strength exceeding 370 MPa, making it one of the strongest aluminum alloys in the 2000 series for general engineering applications.
A key characteristic of 2A11 is its excellent cold workability in the T4 condition, which makes it the preferred material for aircraft rivets and cold-formed fasteners. It also offers good machinability, especially in the T6 temper. However, like other Al-Cu alloys, 2A11 has relatively poor corrosion resistance compared to 5xxx and 6xxx series alloys, and is not recommended for welding by conventional arc methods due to susceptibility to hot cracking.
2A11 is covered under GB/T 3190 (China), and is commonly supplied in accordance with internal enterprise specifications aligned with GB standards. For procurement reference, buyers often compare 2A11 with AA 2017 (UNS A92017, EN AW-2017 / AlCu4MgSi).

| Tempérer | Caractéristiques principales | Meilleur pour |
|---|---|---|
| O (recuit) | Softest condition, highest formability, lowest strength | Cold forming, bending, parts requiring complex shaping before heat treatment |
| T4 | Solution heat-treated and naturally aged; excellent strength with good cold workability | Aircraft rivets, cold-formed fasteners, precision mechanical parts |
| T6 | Solution heat-treated and artificially aged; highest strength | High-stress structural components, gears, bushings, heavy-duty fasteners |
2A11 achieves tensile strength exceeding 370 MPa in the T4 temper and over 390 MPa in T6, making it suitable for structural applications where weight savings are critical.
The alloy performs well under cyclic loading, which is essential for aerospace fasteners and dynamic-load components.
In the T6 temper, 2A11 machines cleanly with good surface finish, making it suitable for automatic screw machine products and precision parts.
Unlike many high-strength aluminum alloys, 2A11 in T4 condition can be cold-formed and bent without intermediate annealing, which is the reason it is the preferred material for aircraft rivets.
2A11 has relatively poor corrosion resistance due to its high copper content. For outdoor or corrosive environments, consider Alclad 2A11 (not always available) or apply protective surface treatments such as anodizing or painting. For mating with dissimilar metals, use appropriate insulation to prevent galvanic corrosion.
| Industry / Sector | Applications typiques | Why 2A11 Is Used |
|---|---|---|
| Aérospatiale | Aircraft rivets, structural fasteners, brackets | High strength-to-weight ratio, good fatigue resistance, excellent cold workability in T4 |
| Automobile | High-stress bolts, fasteners, precision machined parts | High strength, good machinability in T6 |
| Ingénierie de précision | Gears, bushings, camera components, optical instrument parts | Dimensional stability, good machinability, attractive machined finish |
| General Engineering | Automatic screw machine products, bushings, wear plates | Consistent mechanical properties, readily available in bar form |
