8079 aluminio is a high-performance foil alloy in the 8000 series, built on an aluminum–iron–silicon chemistry that gives excellent barrier properties, low gas permeability, and good strength in thin gauge. It is a mainstay of food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic flexible packaging. Linsy supplies 8079 in O, H14, and H18 tempers as foil and light sheet, with custom dimensions and MTC documentation for every order.

8079 is an Al–Fe–Si foil alloy whose fine, iron-rich constituent particles deliver high strength and pinhole resistance at very low thickness. Its extremely low gas and moisture permeability makes it ideal for laminated and printed flexible packaging. Note: 8079 is a foil/packaging alloy and is not a lithium-bearing grade — some sources mistakenly list it with Al–Li chemistry.
Typical production ranges are listed below; custom dimensions are available on request.

Very low gas and moisture transmission, the reason it is used in pharma and food laminates.
Iron-rich constituents give pinhole resistance uncommon at sub-0.05 mm thickness.
Takes coating, lamination, and printing well after surface treatment.
8079 is processed by slitting, laminating, coating, and printing rather than structural machining. Edge quality and pinhole count are the key quality metrics for foil; specify surface treatment (e.g. primer or lacquer) when laminating to polymer films.
Every shipment is accompanied by an MTC report detailing chemical composition and mechanical test results. Third-party inspection and SGS test reports can be arranged on request. Incoming and outgoing inspection covers dimensions, surface condition, and mechanical properties.
Linsy operates a Shenzhen production base with over 20 years of aluminum manufacturing experience, supplying 1000–8000 series alloys to global B2B buyers. We support custom dimensions, tempers, and processing for both prototype and production volumes.
Engineering guides and specification references help with alloy selection and design. The external links below are provided for background reading and should be replaced with Linsy-owned content before publication (verify before use).
No. 8079 is an Al–Fe–Si foil alloy used for packaging. The lithium chemistry sometimes seen online belongs to 8090, a different grade.
Its very low gas/moisture permeability and pinhole resistance at thin gauge.
O temper is standard for laminated and printed foil because it is soft and drawable.
Standard sizes are usually available within 10–60 days depending on alloy, temper, and order volume. Confirm exact timing with our sales team when requesting a quote.
Yes. We cut to customer-specified thickness, width, length, diameter, and wall thickness where the production process allows.
An MTC report is included with every order. Additional third-party or SGS reports can be arranged on request.
Common options include mill finish, anodizing, polishing, and specialized coatings subject to alloy and application.
