5754 aluminum is a non-heat-treatable Al-Mg alloy with 2.6-3.6% magnesium. It combines good moderate strength with excellent corrosion resistance in marine and industrial environments, and retains most of its strength after welding.

5754 aluminum belongs to the 5xxx family of aluminum-magnesium alloys. With about 2.6-3.6% magnesium and small additions of manganese and chromium, it offers a strong balance of corrosion resistance, weldability, and formability. It is not strengthened by heat treatment; its properties come from strain hardening (the H tempers).
Because 5754 keeps good strength and ductility after welding and resists attack from seawater and many industrial chemicals, it is widely used in shipbuilding, vehicle bodies, and welded structures.

Values are typical reference ranges for sheet and plate per EN 485-2 and depend on thickness. H38 and H112 are also available on request.
O / H111 give the best formability and the highest retained strength after welding – choose these for welded tanks, hulls, and deep-drawn parts.
H22 / H24 / H32 / H34 add moderate strength while staying formable, suiting vehicle body panels and structural components that are lightly formed.
H36 / H38 deliver the highest strength of the range for stiffeners and parts with little further forming.
5754 resists seawater and many industrial atmospheres better than most heat-treatable grades, which makes it a default choice for marine service.
It welds readily by MIG and TIG using 5356 or 5183 filler. Strength in the weld zone stays close to the parent metal, so welded assemblies keep their integrity.
In O and soft H tempers it bends and draws well, supporting complex fabricated shapes.
Toughness is maintained at low temperatures, useful for refrigerated and cryogenic-adjacent equipment.
5754 is welded with MIG/TIG using 5356 or 5183 filler wire. It is not heat-treatable, so fabrication relies on cold work and welding rather than aging. The alloy cuts, saws, and bends cleanly; anodizing gives a uniform decorative finish when required.
Linsy Aluminum operates a production base with more than 20 years of experience in rolled and extruded aluminum products across the 1000 to 8000 series. We support buyers with cut-to-size service, CNC machining, laser cutting, and surface finishing (anodizing, polishing, brushing) under one roof.
Every order ships with a mill test certificate (MTC) documenting chemistry and mechanical properties. Our quality system is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. Third-party inspection reports (for example SGS) can be arranged on request for specific orders.
We work to ASTM, EN, GB, and JIS specifications and supply customers in Europe, Asia, and other regions. Tell us your form, temper, and dimension requirements and we will return a quotation with lead time.
These articles help with alloy selection, fabrication, and procurement decisions:
No. 5754 is a non-heat-treatable 5xxx alloy; its strength comes from magnesium content and strain hardening (O, H tempers).
5356 or 5183 filler is typical, matching the magnesium-rich base metal and preserving corrosion resistance in the joint.
5083 has higher magnesium (4.0-4.9%) and greater as-welded strength for heavy marine structures, while 5754 offers better formability for thinner, formed body and panel work.
Minimum order quantities depend on the form and temper. For common sheet, plate, and extrusion sizes we can often accept small lots; custom sizes and tempers are quoted per request. Contact us with your bill of materials for a firm MOQ.
For stock or regularly produced sizes, typical lead time is 10 to 60 days depending on quantity, temper, and any additional processing. Custom or rarely ordered specs may take longer; we confirm the date in the quotation.
Yes. Every shipment includes an MTC reporting the actual chemistry and mechanical results for the supplied lot. SGS or other third-party inspection reports can be arranged when needed.
Yes. We offer cut-to-length, precision sawing, CNC machining, laser cutting, and surface finishing (anodizing, polishing, brushing) so the material arrives closer to your finished part.
We regularly work to ASTM, EN, GB, and JIS specifications. If your project references a specific standard or designation, mention it in the RFQ so we match the requirement.
