What Is 2034 Aluminum Alloy?

2034 aluminum is a heat-treatable alloy in the 2xxx series, primarily alloyed with copper (3.8–4.9%) and magnesium (1.2–1.8%). It is designed for applications requiring high strength and good fatigue resistance, particularly in aerospace structures.

2034 shares compositional similarities with 2024 (the most widely used 2xxx aerospace alloy) but features a higher magnesium content, which contributes to improved fatigue performance. Its corrosion resistance is moderate — protective coatings or Alclad are recommended for exposed environments.

Note: 2034 is a less commonly specified alloy than 2024 or 2014. Designers should confirm availability and specification coverage with suppliers before committing to this alloy in new projects.
